anemone (n) - A song written by Hyde. The name came from a flower that is available in PASTEL colours, and are relatively hardy. Symbol: impossible love. Also a flower of Seraphim (angel) Camael, who is the planetary angel of Mars, whose colour is RED and whose bird is SPARROW
a) PASTEL colours are associated with tetsu-- so is the colour RED.
b) the attributes of Camael are, among which, determination and passion-- both of which is required of tetsu to form the band.

c) SPARROW- a bird associated with tetsu due to its small and fragile frame (trust me, tetsu's really skinny!)

It represents "impossible love"... After the release of Clicked Singles Best 13, which this song was housed on, they immediately went solo. This shows that after Clicked, Hyde and Tetsu might have a fall-out. (since Hyde suggested going solo)

a drop of colour (n) - A solo song by Hyde.
the lyrics go, "a drop of colour saves me from the fate of facing everyday/ a single bloom"... Colours are associated with tetsu, due to the fact that a) sakura's not colourful at all! b) tetsu is colourful! Therefore, the premises point to tetsu being the "bloom" who saves him from yesterday, which means "the past"...

And the fact that Tetsu never compares the "you" in his songs to flower shows that Hyde is on top, and Tetsu is at the bottom!

Asuka (n) - A Female character from Neon Genesis Evangelion, whom Tetchan likes.
Asuka is cute, but her character sucks. Also, it seems like Hyde is very good looking, but what about his character? Both Asuka and Hyde are very headstrong and stubborn, and while Asuka is supposed to be a westerner, Hyde looks like a westerner!

Beginning (e) - Let's see... Although several of them knew each other beforehand, L'Arc~en~Ciel was formed around Hyde and Tetsu! As for why Hyde left his previous band-- Tetsu'd called him almost everyday to plaque him-- Hyde'd had no intention to join at first.
That sounds alot like wooing somebody, doesn't it? Hmm. So, what else could be the real reason Hyde left his previous band? (hint: h <3 t!)
Barbed Wire Necklace (n) - In Hyde's painting for the single Shallow Sleep, the motif of the barbed wire acts as a complimenting background to the lily. Also, since 1998, Hyde has been wearing the barbed wire till 1999.
In 1996, Tetsu has compared Hyde to being a rose- the barbed wire acts as a metaphor for the rose's thorns. Relating the idea of thorns to the song "Ibara no namida" (see i) , this shows that Hyde treasures Tetsu's comparison of him to the rose more than Sakura's "Cherry Blossom"! ^0^ (Hyde has never written a song "sakura", has he?)
Bible (n)- in Tetsu's High School yearbook, Tetsu wrote that the book which he read most was the bible, to assist in his writing lyrics. In the same way, Hyde's lyrics are full of religious tones of Biblical (to be more mainstream) veins as well.
No HT references here, but practitioners of Christianity often condemn homosexuality, due to the "purpose" stated in the text. This might point to Hyde's lyrics and the forbidden love.
Bird / birdcage (n) - a recurring imagery in Hyde's works, including Siesta~ Field of Dreams, Blurry Eyes and Flower.
also see "Ibara no namida" (I)
Butterfly/ Butterfly's Sleep (n) - Appears in songs like "Butterfly's Sleep". Another recurring imagery in L'Arc~en~Ciel's works- in Shinshoku, Butterflies escape from Hyde's mouth. Butterfly is an insect of Hagiel, the angel of Venus, the ruler of Libra.

Car (e) - 2002, when Hyde was at a hot spring. Hyde saw tetsu's car, and thus waited all night for tetsu...
Logically speaking, who the hell would wait for so long unless a) tetsu owes hyde money, or b) hyde loves tetsu and dearly misses him? ^_^ (of course, let's be more romantic!)
Cop & Gangster (e) - In 1999, an interview asked: "what would you rather be if you weren't a musician?" Hyde's answer: "Cop, because I get to chase people" and Tetchan's answer: "Gangster, because they're cool".
When hyde and tetsu drop so much hints for us... Tetchan's original dream was to be a storeowner, right? Since when did he want to become a gangster? And Hyde wants to chase people- it's an indirect proof of him being intellectually a domineering guy (seme!), whereas, for Tetsu, he'd be the one being chased, so he's the uke! Tada!
Child (n) - In the event when they went to Taiwan, when they were interviewd by the reporter, the conversation goes like this:
Reporter: Have you known each other for a long time?
Hyde: Yeah, it won't be surprising even if we had a kid!
Reporter: Has it been nine years?
Hyde: If we had a kid it's probably graduated!
I think this speaks for itself. XD But coupled with the fact that Tetchan once sat on Hyde, and that Hyde cuddled and kissed Tetchan on the lips in 95, it must be HxT and not TxH. Also see the baby name.

Dove (n) - the bird in Hyde's photostory of Siesta~ Field of Dreams. In this video, this Dove is Hyde's lover. As a symbol for Peace (UN), and harmony, the Dove is also a bird from Hagiel (The angel of Venus, who rules Libra), which appeared in the bible to fetch a twig to convey the news of relief to Noah's Ark.
This was the beginning, so we must not forget that they might be still together at that time. It is also known that people born on 3 Oct are harmonious people- the bird is a perfect representation of Tetsu. And because it is white, see Lily (L).

E/e(1 entry)
Evergreen (n) - This is Hyde's first solo single release; in it, he sings, "so full of joy you were a child of spring/a beauty that is pure/an innocence endures"
The entire song points to a failed relationship that has been destroyed due to a breach of rules within it.

As for why Tetsu...?! Since all the evidence points towards the fact that Hyde and Tetsu were once together and that they, by 1999, have already broken up with Tetsu being the hurt one, this song gives us a clue to the nature of the uke. Since it is written, "so full of joy"... "an innocence endures", this song is written for Tetsu because Tetsu is like, as he has said in 1999, a child; he claims his mental age is 16, and the aforementioned attributes are that of a child's.

However, at the end of the song, Hyde sings, "The time has come the bells have rung/...last goodbye", it points to the fact that it cannot be written for his current wife, Megumi since they are now married; in fact, "the time has come" signifies that it is the time for marriage, and since marriage (with opposite sex to appease both outsiders and parents) is often the painful spot of gay couples, it gives us a clue to the reason of their breakup.

Also,  a possibility is Hyde's reference to request for going solo-- it might imply emotional dissatisfaction with the band (and or the band members, namely, a break from having to see Tetsu, someone whom he once hurt), and the song is written to comfort Tetsu.

This also explains why Hyde uses the image of a lily (l) and a rose (r) often.

F/f(2 entries)
Flower (e) - In 1996, L'Arc~en~Ciel's members were all labeled with a flower... When Ken said, Tetsu's like tulip, "the species that lies between black and purple, right? Alluring tulip." And hyde replied, "Yeah, tulip." Later, with regards to Hyde, whereas Tetsu said, "Rose", Sakura said, "I think it's cherry blossoms. Isn't it said that corpses are buried underneath cherry blossoms?"
As you can see, the ROSE has become a motif in Hyde's worlds- in terms of lyrical expression, and in photographs. Although Sakura seems to understand Hyde in that respect, it bears no significance in terms of relationship- admittedly, "sakura" is referring to his own name as well, but it might merely be a reference of close friendship. (BTW, hidoko loves freesias)

in Tetsu's "Rose", and Hyde's commentary on Tetsu being a "tulip", however, suggests an unnatural relationship that might be worth the creation of the song "ibara no namida" (see i) It generally means that Hyde thinks Tetsu is alluring (like Ken), which is why he agreed with Ken.

Moreover, Sakura might have done that comparison because there are corpses under a cherry blossom. Corpses can be seen as the sacrificed, the killed, the hurt, and because hyde is a rose (to tetsu), tetsu could be hurt by the thorns. This implies that Sakura is a close friend who knows of tetsu and hyde's condition, and because of the comparison, tetsu is the hurt one, which fits the image of ibara no namida perfectly.

Finale (n) - The sing seems to suggest heavy connotations of being directed towards androgynous identity, especially with the last phrase, "kimi wa...shoujo no mama"
"furimuita kimi wa toki o koete mitsumeteiru/adokenai shoujo no mama" The phrase "toki o koete...shoujo no mama" suggests the transitional between the present and the past, hinting that either a) this individual was never a young girl but now seems like one with relations to the past, or b) this individual was once like a young girl. (referring to tetsu... Given that he was never a young girl, but once seemed like a young girl, and with those sorrowful eyes could seem any moment like what he was once like.)

"kono ai wa daremo furesasenai/sore ga kami ni somuku koto dearou to" Again, the motif of forbidden love crops up- forbidden love is often associated with homosexuality. "daremo furesasenai" suggests that it is due to societal perspective that the love is forbidden. The religious connotation of "kami ni somuku koto dearou" suggests that it might be due to religion that causes the conflict between the love and perspective- yet even if he has go against God, he would not let anyone touch this love.

Given the two premises, one could safely deduct that he is referring to Tetsu, because Tetsu was once like a girl and never was a girl.  The first phrase, "shoujo no mama" suggests that Hyde is the seme in the relationship. "toki wo koete" suggests that the relationship is a thing of the past...

Genius (n) - In a 95 interview, Hyde introduced himself as, "I am a genius, with a lot of talents."
Tetchan replied, "I admit that."
Hyde replied, "Including ecchi (sex)?"
I can just imagine tetsu blushing like a shoujo in this one! XD

H/h(1 entry)
horoscope (n) - The horoscope for Hyde and Tetsu's birthdays are-- favourable union, but a destructive relationship.
Combined with the premise of anemone (see a), the end result is- hyde and tetsu are, or at least, were together! The fact that "anemone" has many attributes pointing to a failed relationship,...

I/i(1 entry)
ibara no namida (Thorn's Tears, n) - A L'Arc~en~Ciel song from the Album Ray. Words an Music by Hyde. (The motif of thorn and rose, with indirect reference to a bird)
ten ga maiorite itazura ni tanoshimu no ka? -> the appearance of the "wicked prank" by heaven is one example of disruptive love... As is common in many hyde songs. The cynicism and bitterness apparent in this phrase tells us why that such a love has indeed been destructive.

koe wo hariagete -> refers to the legend where the bird pierces his heart to the thorn and sings the final beautiful song

ibara ni mamireta kono chi ga karehate temo -> Note the imagery of smearing of blood on the thorn. The next phrase, "anata e kokoro wo daite" tells us that the narrative voice is a thorn, or possibly a rose. Also, the blood, combined with the voice, points to an imagery of a bird... And tetsu is so like a bird, especially with his soprano backing...

anata e no kokoro wo daite -> note the usage of "anata"- it's more ambivalent to the gender of the person he's referring to. The reference to embracing the heart possibly, other than for poetic purposes, refers to the legend of the bird again, where the heart is pierced through- the song, as a thorn, embraces the bird.

sono toki wa anata ga tsurete itte -> Note the usage of "bring (a person along)"... Cross reference with "TIGHTROPE", by Tetsu, wherein it says "kimi o tsuresatemo ii no?" However, the song stipulates, "kegarete nakatta nara"... Which in the general atmosphere of the song probably refers to the time of death. "soshite sotto daite" is ambivalent in the gender of the subject, and "sotto" gives a feeling of the souls gently embracing--souls do not have gender, therefore, the love would then be pure. Unlike Tetsu's song, however, this seems confident of his subject's requited love-- thereby suggesting that Tetsu is the hurt one.

Kiss (n) - In a live from 95, after singing Blurry Eyes, Hyde made a mistake. Ken laughed rather impolitely, so Tetchan walked over to reprimand him, but was accidentally hit by Hyde's outstretched hand. So Hyde hurriedly cuddled Tetchan and kissed him on the lips!

Also, Tetsu's way to destress before live is to kiss Hyde (He said this in shoxx of 94 Jan). He said (exactly), "Recently I keep recieving letters from fans saying things like, "Don't kiss Hyde anymore" or "Don't leave kissmarks on Hyde!". But it's because Hyde asked me to, "Let's leave a kissmark" in the resting room, which is why I did it, that lots of misunderstandings occur, I'm the one who's being forced! (laughs) Because of this, Hyde's fans, who know nothing, write threat mail to me, but it's all just a misunderstanding; I didn't want to do it myself, but Hyde keeps requesting, I don't want to do it myself, but he's requesting, so I feel troubled, what great stress... But after saying this, the stress has gone away... (laughs)"

This is the strongest evidence that I've found so far! The act of Hyde's towards Tetsu's is so seme-ish, and Tetsu is indeed a libra who will give in to his lover just to get harmony...

L/l(3 entries)
Lily (n) - A flower for purity- this flower was featured on Hyde's Shallow Sleep and appeared in a photobook LIFE in one Tetsu picture. Lilies are flowers of Hagiel, the angel of Libra, and also signify purity.
The motif of the thorn (barbed wire necklace) in the background hints at a) the occasion in 1996 where Tetsu compared Hyde to a rose, and b) Hyde's response to being compared to a rose (for more information, see F, for Flower!) This means that Hyde treasures Tetsu's comparison of himself to a rose!

Also, since white lilies signify purity, the song "evergreen" is also written for Tetsu (see "E")

Looks (n) - Both Hyde and Tetsu consider looks to be the top priority for liking girls.
Since both of them look out for looks first, and both of them look good... Also see "Asuka"
LIVE (n) In a Nagoya live of 95, Tetchan sat on top of Hyde and played his bass.
Apparently, there's a __xual position that's similar to that action... It involves the guy on the bottom who takes the role of a seme, and the guy who's sitting on top is the uke.

M/m(1 entry)
Melancholy (n) Hyde has said that what troubles him most in roundabout tours is Tetchan's melancholy!
There are other things to be troubled about, like a "girlfriend", or family. So why Tetchan's melancholy, specifically? It indicates a tragic downturn in the love affair of HxT, or that they are best friends. But coupled with the fact that Hyde's a Romantic, which renders him one of those people who, once they have love, do not care as much about friends, and also the fact that there are so many evidences pointing towards Hyde and Tetsu, it implies that they at least were once together.

N/n(1 entry)
Name (n) - Tetchan once said that if he's going to have a boy, he'd call it "hide --". And Hyde's name happens to be "hideto"...
He also said that his name for girls would be "nijiko", which is "pretty child of rainbow". (Damn, I also had the same thought before I knew that Tetchan will name his daughter that... But for me, the guy would be called "hikazu"^^)

ring (n) -The ring with five pointed star is introduced by Tetchan to Hyde from a magazine on which he saw.
This is a ring that Hyde never takes off. Apparently, Tetchan knows Hyde's taste well, and Hyde treasures the ring so much. Also, even though Roentgen has that knot around his finger which implies he's married, it also could mean the ring that Tetchan showed him that he really treasured.
rose (n) - We know that Tetchan has compared Hyde to a rose in 96. And we do know that roses have thorns, which is almost equivalent to the thorn on his neck and the thorn he wears on his wrist on Heart, as well as the thorn he wears in Hello.
Also see Ibara no Namida and Lily.
red (n) - We know that hyde's mildly colour blind, and that Tetchan always dresses in bright colours. In LArc-en-ciel.com, the colour assigned to Tetchan is red,and to Hyde is blue.
Hyde's being mild colour blind refers to the fact that he can't see a few colours, but he can see bright colours. He also wrote "a drop of colour", which reflects Tetsu's colourful hair and dressing. Also, we know that Tetsu's very much in favour of colours, considering that he named his band "rainbow". As we can see above, Hyde has the tendency to compare tetsu to flowers, which are colourful things of nature. Being the Romantic that he is, Hyde expresses himself very much through nature, so it is implying that Hyde loves Tetsu!
rainbow (n) - This is the name of the band, which is also the colour of gay flag.
In his high school photo, Tetsu has already begun cross dressing and wearing makeup. He also kept long hair despite school objection. When compared with this fact, one really wonders about his sexual orientation.

S/s(1 entry)
Secret Signs (n) - Although there is never a direct reference, it is good proof of Hyde being a seme.
"okasareta karada/shitasaki de yasashiku/tokasete hoshii oboreru made" The stanza's reference to "okasareta", while meaning "violated", sounds like "penetrated" as well. The protagonist refers to the usage of "tokasete hoshii...", referring to the body, giving the impression that he is referring to the body beneath him that is violated.

Although the first few lines do not bear the answer to the subject's gender, "kowareochita ishiki wa nido to/moto ni modosenai" gives the feeling of forbidden love and sin is again portrayed. As heterosexuality  is easily immunised to (let's just say with Japan's number of A videos, it wouldn't be impossible), whereas homosexuality isn't, thereby heightening the "forbidden" sense (even the existence of love between homosexuals are more or less seen in that way by a conservative asian society, much less sexual acts between homosexuals). Again, this indirectly refers to the possibility of homosexuality.

...And at this time, Tetsu's really skinny... With long red hair... ^.^ Wearing pink jacket... very uke-ish...

T/t(1 entry)
TETSUKO (n) - The "girl" who appeared in TETSU69's November Suite booklet, but is a cross-dressing TETSU69.
she is very pretty, isn't she? Anyway, tetsu has been known to crossdress (other than the earlier days) from time to time, even after they deny being "visual". This shows that tetsu has certain tendency towards being a "girl". Only TETSUKO know TETSU69's secrets because TETSU69's secrets are probably as TETSUKO. (ie: xxxing as an uke with hyde...)

Just a random thought, back in 2000 I wrote a fanfiction about tetsu crossdressing and saying he has a sis called tetsuko. ^_^; what a coincidence.
